Some of us even have it memorized.

The recitation of Surah Yasin is linked to blessings and forgiveness from the almighty Allah. We turn towards it whenever we face difficulty or a rough phase in life. Surah Yasin conveys a message of faith and tells us to rely on Allah. It also teaches us that we must hope for ease after every hardship. This article will discuss the importance of reciting Surah Yasin during challenging moments.

Surah Yasin and Its Relevance in the Quran

Surah Yasin is the 36th chapter of the Quran. In total, it consists of 83 verses. The chapter talks about the oneness of Allah and talk about prophethood. Moreover, it also discusses how humans are accountable for their acts. Surah Yasin starts with the word ‘Yasin’ itself and then goes on to mention that the Prophet (PBUH) is the last messenger of Allah. There is a hadith that talks about how important Surah Yasin is for all Muslims around the world.

It is narrated by Anas that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:

“Indeed for everything, there is a heart, and the Qur’an’s heart is Ya Sin. Whoever recites Ya Sin, then for its recitation, Allah writes for him that he recited the Qur’an ten times.”

[Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2887]

Surah Yasin Offers Comfort and Guidance

When we come across a rough patch in our lives, we often look for comfort and reassurance through Allah’s and the Holy Prophet’s words and verses. Surah Yasin reassures its believers that all of the difficulties in life are temporary, and we all know that His promises are true. The chapter repeatedly talks about the mercy and justice that Allah bestows upon its believers.

One verse that brings immense comfort is:

اِنَّا نَحْنُ نُـحْيِ الْمَوْتٰى وَنَكْتُبُ مَا قَدَّمُوْا وَاٰثَارَہُمْ۝۰ۭوَكُلَّ شَيْءٍ اَحْصَيْنٰہُ فِيْۗ  اِمَامٍ مُّبِيْنٍ۝۱۲ۧ

It is We indeed who bring back the dead to life, and write down what they send ahead (of their deeds), and traces that they leave behind. We keep an account of all things in a lucid register.

[Al-Quran 36:12]

This verse from Surah Yasin is a reminder that Allah is all-knowing. It will be recorded whenever a human performs any act or goes through struggles. Additionally, that person will be rewarded according to the patience he demonstrates.

With Hardships Comes Ease

The heart of the Quran mentions the mercy and power of Allah not once but multiple times throughout the chapter. It reassures the believers that there will always be ease and comfort after every rough patch.

For instance, from verses 33-35, Allah reminds us that the rain, vegetables, and fruits are a form of mercy from nature. After every barren land during the winter, there is the season of spring which is a testament of hope and renewal.

There is a sign in the dead earth for them which We quicken, and produce from it grain which they eat.

[Al-Quran 36:33]

The verse serves as a reflection of life’s difficulties that humans face. It reminds us that not every phase will remain the same and that all hardships are temporary. Just like Allah revives a barren land, He can also rejuvenate our spirits and situations through His mercy.

Protects from Worldly Adversities

Surah Yasin protects us against any adversities, whether they be worldly or spiritual. One hadith narrated by Ma’qil ibn Yasar, The Prophet (ﷺ) said:

Recite Surah Ya-Sin over your dying men. This is the version of Ibn al-Alam.

[Sunan Abi Dawud 3121]

The hadith is important in pointing out that Surah Yasin helps ease transitions in life. Either a person is going through any life challenge or any journey from the world to the hereafter. People also recite Surah Yasin as it is believed that it helps to reduce anxiety and stress.

Belief in Allah’s Plan

One of the main themes of Surah Yasin is relying on Allah for everything or Tawakkul. We usually question our faith during difficult times and wonder why we are going through these trials. Surah Yasin encourages all believers to trust in Allah’s plan as he is wise and all-knowing. Stories of messengers in Surah illustrate the power of tawakkul.

(The messengers) said: “Our Lord knows that we have been sent to you. Our duty is to convey the message clearly.”

[Al-Quran 36:16-17]

The messengers of Allah remained steadfast and strong even during the most difficult times. Sometimes, people rejected their messages, yet they remained patient and hopeful as they had complete faith in Allah’s plan.

Forgiveness and Mercy of Allah

To seek forgiveness and mercy from Allah is another central theme of Surah Yasin. It reminds us that Allah is forever willing to forgive us and he has great love for us all.

سَلٰمٌ۝۰ۣ قَوْلًا مِّنْ رَّبٍّ رَّحِيْمٍ۝۵۸

“Peace” shall be the greeting from the merciful Lord.

[Al-Quran 36:58]

The verse is another indication of what awaits those who remain hopeful and patient in their life even if they come across difficult situations. Reciting the chapter of Surah Yasin is a strong reminder that Allah’s mercy is infinite and the greatest reward awaits those who are true believers.

Provides Immediate Relief

The recitation of Surah Yasin is believed to bring immediate relief from any struggles that anyone may be going through. It is all thanks to the divine intervention of Allah.

The recitation of this chapter also has a calming effect on the soul. Each rhythmic verse has an important meaning and helps with spiritual healing. It helps the believers to form a connection with Allah and also find peace among worldly troubles.

Conclusion

Surah Yasin is not just a simple chapter of the Quran. It is a source of spiritual strength and peace for any Muslim believer who is going through difficulties. It is a constant reminder of Allah’s forgiveness and mercy. Reciting this Surah with dedication and sincerity helps the believers to find guidance and hope.

Whenever anyone is looking for a sign of relief, they must recite this Surah and believe that after a phase of hardship, there will always be peace and calm waiting for them.

In verse 82, it states:

اِنَّمَاۗ اَمْرُہٗۗ اِذَاۗ اَرَادَ شَـيْـــــًٔا اَنْ يَّقُوْلَ لَہٗ كُنْ فَيَكُوْنُ۝۸۲

When He wills a thing He has only to say: “Be,” and it is.

[Al-Quran 36:82]

Only Allah has command over the entire universe and nothing is possible without His command. If we truly believe and rely on Allah and seek His forgiveness, the worldly trials will be much easier to conquer.
